He Had It All . . .Or Did He??

Ecclesiastes 12 – King Solomon HAD anything he wanted and had the means TO DO anything he wanted – power, wealth and fame. Throughout his life he tried everything: science, the arts, music, architecture, collecting, entertainment, laughter, business, pleasure, food, alcohol, women, philosophy and the study of wisdom – and he was still EMPTY. Stimulated his whole life, but never truly satisfied. True life is only found in a personal relationship with Jesus. Yes, all of these things “under the sun” bring joy, but it is only temporal. If we try and find the meaning of life in any of them, we will find ourselves saying “Vanity of vanities!” (Ecc.12:8) – in our modern language “Pointless, pointless” or “Meaningless, meaningless”. God has placed eternity in the hearts of man (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Nothing under the sun can fill that longing. But with a personal relationship with Jesus, there is real life, true satisfaction, deep contentment, unspeakable joy and so much more that is everlasting and eternal!
